Stress is Stress. Guidance Where and When it Matters Most.
Laura has spent years in the field working with law enforcement, fire, dispatch, and Emergency Medical Services, as well as austere responders in avalanche, ski patrol, guiding, and search and rescue. As an emergency responder turned mental health clinician, her ability to ‘speak the language’ has earned the trust of elite teams throughout the world.
Responding to the growing demands in times of rapid change, Laura’s work extends into stress mitigation in other essential fields such as higher education, climate response, humanitarian aid, disaster, attorneys and scientists working for justice. Laura offers emerging practices to sustain those we rely on most to address the most pressing issues of our time.
With a deep understanding of the unique challenges associated with stress in demanding fields, and the real injury that occurs with repeated exposure to trauma, Laura provides tailored strategies for managing and mitigating operational stress injury.
"Laura McGladrey is the right support for today's educators. The challenges in higher education extend beyond the blackboard. Laura provides the common language of the stress continuum for us to be able to highlight the importance of fortifying the mental health of students and staff through green choices."
"Thanks to our work with Laura the geohazards team has adopted the stress continuum concept into our culture and it clearly paid off. Folks are checking in with each other regularly (even when we are not on an incident) and having a common language makes it possible and almost second nature."
"I've taken quite a few mental health-oriented trainings and this was by far the best. The language of stress injury is way more useful and actionable, and I just want to say thank you for your work."
